Chair / Professor Seung Ho Hwang   The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at SUNY Korea is pleased to welcome Professor Seung Ho Hwang as the new Chair of the ECE Department.   Professor Hwang received his B.S. degree from Seoul National University, his M.S. degree from KAIST, and his Ph.D. degree from the University of California, Berkeley, all in Electrical Engineering. Before joining SUNY Korea, he served as a faculty member at KAIST for about ten years. He then spent another decade in Silicon Valley, where he developed key patents that helped establish the HDMI standard. He later served as Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics' System LSI Division and Hyundai Motor Company, where he contributed to connected car and vehicle intelligence technologies.   Professor Hwang brings extensive academic and industry experience to the department. His research interests include electronic and electrical systems design and implementation. The department warmly welcomes Professor Hwang and looks forward to continued growth and new achievements under his leadership.

Chair Hong and President Arthur Lee at the Farewell Ceremony   The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at SUNY Korea expresses its sincere appreciation to Professor Sangjin Hong, founding chair of the ECE Department, for his many contributions to the department since its establishment in Fall 2022.   Under Professor Hong's guidance, the department established its instructional laboratories, developed course offerings and course sequences tailored to SUNY Korea ECE students, and launched the EVision student club and the Women in ECE initiative. Through his commitment to education and student mentoring, he created a supportive community where students could grow both academically and professionally. These efforts laid a strong foundation for the department's academic programs and student activities.   The department thanks Professor Hong for his vision, dedication, and lasting contributions. His work has shaped the department and will continue to support its students and faculty for years to come. We wish him continued success and happiness in the future.
