Professor Ji-Woong Lee graduated from Sogang University and earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering: Systems and his M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Before joining SUNY Korea in 2023, he served for several years at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, as a graduate faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering and as a research faculty member in the Applied Research Laboratory. He also held postdoctoral research positions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the University of Florida.

Professor Lee's research focuses on signals, systems, and control. In particular, he studies the switched control of hybrid dynamical systems and decentralized control over distributed networked systems. As the principal investigator, he received an NSF grant of $1 million for research on cyber-physical systems. He has published many papers in leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control and Automatica, and presented his work at major conferences such as the IEEE Conference on Decision and Control and the American Control Conference.
