Welcome to the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at SUNY Korea.
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Electrical and Computer Engineering is one of the foundational disciplines of engineering. It encompasses a large number of subdisciplines that are at the heart of both traditional and leading-edge technologies. It is a broad profession concerned with activities such as microwave theory and techniques, instrumentation and measurements, and broadcast technology to consumer electronics and engineering in medicine and biology. Current growth areas include telecommunications, signal processing, optoelectronics, microelectronics, pattern recognition, machine vision, artificial intelligence, and robotics. Here at SUNY Korea, we provide Electrical Engineering (EE) program at ECE Department,
The Undergraduate Electrical Engineering Program (EE)
The undergraduate Electrical Engineering (EE) major program at SUNY Korea recognizes that students have a variety of career objectives and a choice of industrial environments in which to pursue them. The electrical engineering curriculum provides students with a core education in mathematics and the physical sciences along with a broad sequence of courses covering basic electronics, digital system design, communications, signal processing, machine learning, and software engineering. A series of laboratory courses introduces them to sensors and electronics, modern instrumentation, and experimental techniques used in engineering for tasks ranging from product design, evaluation, and testing to research. In addition, students can select electives to provide either higher-level academic training in preparation for graduate school or a broader exposure to subjects related to engineering practice to enhance their preparation for the job market.
Our Undergraduate Program
Our undergraduate program is designed to provide students with the detailed Electrical Engineering education and training required for immediate entry into the job market. At the same time, the curriculum maintains enough flexibility to enable students to fully prepare themselves for graduate studies and research careers. Electrical engineering classes are taught by full-time faculty members in small-size classes, which allows close integration with faculty. Undergraduate students, particularly those who plan to pursue graduate education, are also encouraged to work with faculty on research projects. As a result of such mentoring, some of our graduates have been admitted to renowned universities for graduate education, receiving prestigious fellowships and scholarships. And undergraduates are encouraged to work directly with the faculty in their technical electives. They also have opportunities to participate in national and international student engineering competitions. Our Senior Design experience offers students opportunities to solve real-world problems in a multi-disciplinary setting.
